Emma and Bryan

It was Jean Luc Picard who frequently said Engage on Star Trek, and he might as well have been advising my children because Emma is now engaged to her boyfriend Byran …or I guess I should say: fiancĂ©. We really like Bryan who is a salt of the earth kind of guy and perfect for Emma. But Emma says she lacks the wedding gene and thinks heading to Vegas might be a good idea after figuring out that she wanted to invite at least 300 people to her wedding and will need about twenty bridesmaids.
Is it my imagination, or are weddings much more complicated today? Having been a bridesmaid, a maid of honor and a bride I’m almost certain that they are. But just to get Emma inspired about the bridesmaid’s dresses, here is a picture of my cousin Ann’s 1970s wedding party. (I’m on the left).

First of all, I'm thrilled for your daughter. they look so happy. Second, I love the tone and color of the photo itself. It's stunning. Third, I can see the resemblance between you and your beautiful daughter and fourth...people don't seem to get married from the inside out (like your book) but rather outside in...

I know your daughter and new son to be will make a wise choice for themselves....

Have fun.

Oh my, those bridesmaid dresses are fantastic, very 1970's indeed!

Oh my word. How Emma is like you. Because of her blonde hair I had not made a connection in features. Oh yes...the 70's!! Congratulations to the young couple and to all the family. Such exciting news. Looks like 2010 is full of new and exciting times.

I'm with Emma. I had a very small, almost informal wedding and it was lovely.
Emma is the spitting image of you.
And the engaged couple looks made for each other.

Wonderful.

Oh, my! I don't suppose there's any chance you saved that dress?

I helped my son and daughter-in-law plan their wedding two years ago and I know that you and Emma will have a good time creating a special celebration.

Congratulations to you all!

Congratulation, your daughter and son-in-law to be are adorable. I don't know about bring back the seventies. I also don't know about Vegas. There is something in planning the wedding that is as important as the actual day. This from a mom who has not had to do it. I have been an assistant though. I'm sure what ever they decide will be the right thing for them.

Wow -- I didn't realize how much Emma looks like you! And those are quite the dresses.....
I've been married twice -- and both were lovely, lol. The first was a ceremony right in a really nice restaurant -- surrounded by our immediate families and closest friends (40 guests). The second time around we were married in a non denominational chapel, with only our children there (my parents listened to the ceremony via cell phone :)Third times a charm, right? Cross your fingers for me!
