On the other hand...

Last January I created a digital ATC every day and posted it to my blog. This proved to be an absorbing pastime, and I learned a lot about Photoshop in the process. But so far in 2008, I’ve only done five. Am I falling down on the “job?” Should I motivate myself by establishing a number to work towards?
On the other hand, it isn’t a job. And I have to admit I’m bored with striving to accomplish certain things. When you feel you always have to be succeeding in one way or another, then life degenerates into a process of proving yourself. Success means you’re worthwhile, and failure you're not. Yes, I think I’ve finally had enough of that way of thinking. There’s so much more to life than setting goals, and trying to meet them.

Susan- I have as always enjoyed your posts- This post really hits on what I deal with all the time- that proving yourself-being a part of a dysfunctional university art department doesn't help- just wish it wasn't so hard to just be OK with doing what I want- without that "I have to prove myself chatter" in my head- I LOVE this card by the way!!
Hang in- Terry

Life, eh? You hit it bang on. Can't we just LIVE without being so goal oriented...and then being disappointed in ourselves when we don't achieve as we think we're supposed to?

Hey, Susan, you have been there, done that. You have proved you can meet your goal of one a day for January. If you don't feel like it, you don't feel like it. The process is where it is at. Do what you love. Inspiration does not always have a straightforward plan.

You are the best! Jeanne
