The best way to learn Photoshop is to play—and to play with it as often as you can. Even though it’s a complicated program, one skill mastered leads to another and you soon have plenty to build on.
If you want to learn the basics of Photoshop, I highly recommend the video tutorials at lynda.com. There’s a monthly fee involved, but you can check out a few of them for free first to see whether or not this approach works for you. Another good thing about this site is that there are tutorials for Photoshop 6 and on, so you don’t have to buy the latest version to benefit.
